ACW is looking for highly motivated junior researchers to join an ambitious project about the international perception of African countries and the actions taken by African media, governments and citizens to manage their country’s reputation.

The narrative surrounding Africa has largely been shaped by people outside her borders. Africa’s reputation at home and abroad negatively affects the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), curbs tourism, shapes the perception of Africans living abroad in their adoptive countries, and fuels stereotypes that lead to various issues such as interethnic conflict and xenophobia on the continent. Read more on why we need to critically assess the role of communications in Africa’s socio-economic development.

We expect a commitment of 5hrs/week on average until July 2018.

We are looking for researchers who can speak French, English or Portuguese. Any other additional language such as Arabic, Chinese and Russian would also be valuable.

The findings of the research will be presented in a report in November 2018.
