ACW and IE Africa Center announce collaboration to accelerate early research into the impact and effectiveness of strategic communications in #Africa’s transformation.
Many African states have developed long term visions and national development plans to guide their steps towards very ambitious objectives. However what is often lacking is the strategy to communicate and inspire the decision makers, private sector, civil society, academia and man on the street who will ultimately turn the vision into reality.
It is increasingly acknowledged that implementing those ambitious plans will take seasoned stakeholder management, engagement and top-notch strategic communications – way beyond nation-branding initiatives.
There is both a need and an opportunity to make communication an essential part of Africa’s development through data-driven insights. This is what brought AfricaCommsWeek and IE Africa Center together – to leverage their respective expertise and capabilities and look into the current trends in the communications landscape of African countries and their impact on development.
A pilot study, which was revealed on Monday 16 September in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, aims to provide critical data informing whether media narratives still play a role in Africa’s development. It includes a 4-country analysis and recommendations on their performance in terms of strategic communications and reputation management. The four countries are Algeria, Liberia, Morocco and Nigeria.
Through this strategic partnership, African organisations will be equipped to measure the effectiveness of strategic communications in #Africa’s transformation.
AfricaCommsWeek is committed to addressing Africa’s urgent development needs through the lens of strategic communications.
