Are you a communication professional with an African focus/expertise? Our blog is open to submissions and we’d love to include your content in our editorial calendar. Here are our guidelines!
Why you should write for the ACW blog
The ACW blog is an opportunity for communication professionals with an interest in Africa to share their experience with their peers. Communication is an art and we all need tips and recommendations to continuously improve our practice.
What we are looking for
We are looking for articles that will stimulate a critical debate on the importance of communication for African countries. We are especially interested in submissions that challenge conventional wisdom and shed new light on previously overlooked aspects of the discussion.
Ideally, the content should be exclusively submitted to the ACW blog. If you would like to send one of your articles that has already been published on another website, make sure you have the authorization to do it.
Blog audience
The ACW blog is for communication professionals across all industries with an expertise or an interest in Africa, from African countries and across the globe.
Our readers might not always have an in-depth knowledge of country-specific events. When necessary, provide some background information to facilitate their understanding of particular topics or events.
Writing style
The writing style of the blog is journalistic, not academic. Your article should be accessible to those without a specific expertise in the field.
Good writing should make complex ideas easily understandable.
Here are a few tips:
- Write in the active voice
- Use the language of everyday speech rather than jargon or clichés
- Briefly explain technical terms, when necessary
- Write short sentences
Language
Articles can be written in French or English.
Article length
Articles should not exceed 1,500 words.
Use of illustrations
It is always better to add at least one illustration to the article. When you send the picture, you should add a short legend to explain the content of the picture. If you do not own the rights to the picture, please specify the copyright’s owner.
Author’s biography
Please provide a short biography of approximately 25 words with your current position and where you live.
The editorial process
All submissions will be reviewed by the editorial team. We might shorten or rewrite some sections, and edit the language to fit our editorial style. Any changes must be approved by the author before the publication of the article.
The format
Please send your text in docx format to info@africacommunicationsweek.com
